Sanchar Saathi Portal: Empowering Citizens with Mobile Security and Awareness

In today’s digital age, mobile phones have become an integral part of our lives. However, with this increased usage comes the risk of misuse, fraud, and security breaches. To address these concerns, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Government of India, has launched the Sanchar Saathi Portal, a comprehensive platform designed to empower citizens and enhance mobile security.

What is Sanchar Saathi?

Sanchar Saathi is a citizen-centric initiative aimed at providing mobile subscribers with tools to manage their connections, report fraudulent activities, and stay informed about telecom security. The portal integrates several modules to offer a seamless and secure experience for users.End Now Foundation+1Compass by Rau’s IAS+1

Key Features of the Portal

1. Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR)

The CEIR module allows users to block lost or stolen mobile devices across all telecom networks in India. By reporting a lost phone, it becomes inoperable, preventing unauthorized use. If the device is recovered, users can unblock it through the portal. Sanchar Saathi+6Compass by Rau’s IAS+6India Government Portal+6ETGovernment.com+3India Government Portal+3End Now Foundation+3

2. Telecom Analytics for Fraud Management and Consumer Protection (TAFCOP)

TAFCOP enables subscribers to check the number of mobile connections registered under their name. This feature helps identify unauthorized or unnecessary connections, allowing users to report and disconnect them, thereby protecting against fraud. ETGovernment.com+4India Government Portal+4Compass by Rau’s IAS+4
